And so it begins...
For the next two weeks, Taylor has a performance of some kind or another. Tonight was a band concert for the Lions Club. Tomorrow, the Home for Men and her school's Winter Concert. Then there are two more parades, three more concerts, caroling in three different neighborhoods and parties, dances, and other miscellaneous festive activities.

I don't know about her, but I'm exhausted thinking about it all.

When Taylor first signed up for chorus and band, it didn't seem like a big deal. Well, the fifty bucks per outfit per activity was a big deal, but I didn't realize she would be this busy come the holiday season. It's sad when your 11 year old's day planner has more activity in it then yours, her dad's, the pets, and Hong Kong combined. Oh and she's in a jazz dance class as well, but other than a few parades, they have been kinda quiet. Their busy season will begin in the Spring...just as the chorus and band activities start up again. *sigh*

I don't know how parents with two or more kids handle it all. I'm insane with just Taylor's activities. And this is a lessened schedule than she has had in the past. She quit Girl Scouts cuz she didn't feel they were "giving back to the community enough". I quote, "if I want to sit in a circle, sing songs, paint my nails and make potholders, I'll have a slumber party and invite people I give a crap about."

Ya know, Taylor really needs to quit holding back her feelings and start telling me how she really feels. She also quit gymnastics "all that flipping and tumbling was getting on my nerves!", county chorus "we sang some pretty stupid songs last year. No need to repeat the process!", and ballet "I came to the conclusion that me and that bar were never going to be friends!". And before you ask, yes, those are exact quotes. Taylor is weird...but funny as hell.

So, now I'm looking at her day planner and hoping that she'll get bored with some of her other activities. Then again, as much as I paid for the uniforms, I'll just suffer through.

One more funny from Taylor..completely unrelated to the above, but funny nonetheless. As I write this she is lying on the couch, fighting off what I think is the case of the flu. She just said to me, "when you go to bed, I trust you will kindly point me in the direction of my room."

"Uh..yeah," I replied. Yes, I know, I have quite the command of the english language. But I had to reach to come up with that reply. She boggles my mind, she truly does.

I just hope she learns to use that "sense" of humor for good and not evil. The jury is still out on that one.
