Another for the Taylor funny archives
We're watching tv...and a commercial for Johnny Cash' LP comes on. So, the commercial is playing parts of songs in the LP, and his remake of "Redemption Song" comes on. Taylor cocks her head to the side and says, ""Redemption Song"-- that's a Bob Marley tune.
She says this as if she has just enlightened me. As if I have no idea who Bob Marley is. As if the Marley CD's that she hijacked came from the good music fairy and not from my music collection. So I nod my agreement and add that several people have done remakes of the song.
"Oh, I know that. Johnny Cash's version seems pretty cool, and Jackson Browne's has a certain resonance, but I prefer the authentic forlorn quality that Marley's version offers."
Huh? Come again? Resonance? Authentic forlorn quality? Where did this kid come from? When I was 11, my ability to critique a song consisted of "I love it" and "I hate it". She boggles my mind.
Just had to share that. :-)
