Oh sure! I decide to take the month off from writing...
And suddenly I am filled with article and story ideas. Figures!
But I am going to stick with my decision and NOT write this month. Yeah, I know, blogging counts as writing, but I really view this blog as my journal, so I don't think it really counts.
Let me have my illusions, will you?
Today was one of those days that, no matter how well planned out it may be, life has different ideas for you.
I played hooky from work today cuz there was stuff Lou and I needed to do once I picked up my paycheck. We had errands to run, people to visit, things to buy...
The only thing I accomplished today was not going to work...and somehow I've also got three preteen girls giggling and bubbling over in my house. Taylor asked if two of her friends could spend the night. For some reason, I agreed.
Okay, I'm lying. I know why I agreed: Taylor is an only so having another kid (or two) around the house doesn't phase me. It helps that her friends are pretty funny and well-behaved. Right now, all three are up in Taylor's room messing around with all of our musical instruments. Yes, we have LOTS of them..three acoustic guitars, three electric guitars, drum set, saxophone, clarinet, flute, piano, organ, electronic keyboard..there are more but I can't think of them right now. When your husband is a musician, you are a recovering musician and your kid takes lessons you tend to collect them like dryers collect socks.
Anyway...I was going somewhere with all this...oh yeah, writing and not getting anything done today. Yes, they ARE related.
Lou and I didn't get anything done because the weather decided not to cooperate. It started snowing around 2 this afternoon and hasn't stopped. We wanted to go to a town about 30 miles from here to do some computer shopping and visit a friend, but didn't want to get stuck driving in ugly weather, so we cut our plans short and picked up Taylor after school. That's when Taylor hit me up for permission for two of her friends to spend the night.
For the record, another reason I agreed to the mini-slumber party was that I am taking Taylor, the two friends that are here and a third friend to the mall tomorrow afternoon so they can do some Christmas shopping. While they traipse all over the mall, I'm going to sit in the coffee shop, drink several gigantic mocha lattes, have some biscotti and...crap! I'm not writing this month! UGH...well, maybe I'll jot some notes...very detailed notes...
